There are many reasons to choose gold for your dental work. It may not be the same color as your tooth, but it will never discolor or stain your teeth as some alternative materials can. Gold is the same hardness as natural tooth enamel, which means that it will not create uneven wear on opposing teeth as you bite and chew. Gold dental work has an extremely long life span and can easily last more than 30 years, eliminating the need for replacement.
While gold work may have a slightly higher upfront cost than composite fillings, it will actually save you money in the long run by preventing the need for future treatments. Each time a filling is replaced, more enamel must be removed, weakening the tooth. The less work a tooth needs, the healthier it will be, and the stronger it will be. Our goal at Morrison Cosmetic Dentistry is to preserve as much of your natural enamel as possible. That is why we recommend gold work for all of our patients.
